The Indiana Academies Symposium is a unique opportunity to celebrate and support Indiana’s broad intellectual capital. The symposium will offer a platform to share and promote cross-disciplinary research, discussion, and collaboration.
The symposium will be held April 3-4, 2020, at the Indiana Convention Center, and will draw on IU’s 200 years of leadership in higher education and research by bringing the state’s academic associations together. The event will both facilitate annual meetings for organizations that choose to do so, and also offer programming with sessions and speakers that focus on cross-disciplinary topics.
On January 20, 2020, we will commemorate the university’s 200th anniversary and Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a public event featuring a major speaker on the Bloomington campus, the dedication of the new IU Bloomington history mural panels in Wright Quad as well as the newly commissioned “Lux et Veritas” paintings in Presidents Hall, and the ceremonial first ringing of the bells in the newly renovated Arthur R. Metz Bicentennial Grand Carillon. Other events and activities will take place on all IU campuses. More events to be announced as the year develops.
Please join us for a weekend of programs and activities to officially kick off IU's year-long Bicentennial celebration. Activities will include:

2018 marks 60 years since the National Defense Education Act (NDEA) was signed into law. The NDEA's Title VI funding underwrote the dramatic and transformative expansion of language and area studies at all levels of education across the U.S. This symposium will assess the current state of international education and explore directions for the future.
