In the latter part of his career at IU, Doc’s work focused on all swimmers, rather than just those at IU. He wrote several swimming manuals for both coaches and swimmers that summarized his research and offered every swimmer a chance to understand the mechanics behind the sport. Doc also developed patents for swimming equipment that have now become industry staples in swim training.
Doc frequently hosted camps and lectures to continue educating swimmers both young and old and traveled around the world to share his research findings and extensive swimming knowledge. Doc’s later years were quiet, but his impact continued to be felt around the world.
This final timeline explores Doc’s later life and the impact he made on both IU’s swim program and on the sport as a whole.
