“Indiana Daily Student 150 Years of Headlines, Deadlines and Bylines,” is composed of contribution from generations
of journalists that have covered local and national news, including behind the scenes stories and notable past front pages. Personal narratives and remembrances of the IDS from current and former journalists appear in the book.

“This book is a great way to document the rich and long history of the IDS from the experience of the people who have worked here.” IDS Editor-in-Chief Matt Rasnic said. Rasnic also designed the cover of the book, which features a historic photo of the newsroom.

The three co-editors of the book, Rachel Kipp, Amy Wimmer Schwarb and Charlie Scudder, alumni of the IDS, pieced together stories and images of the IDS as it serves as a training ground for aspiring journalists.

The book celebrates the newspaper’s achievements throughout its history while showing readers the traditions that student journalists at the IDS have upheld for more than 150 years to provide readers full coverage of IU, Bloomington, and the world.

The book was released by Indiana University Press Oct. 1 and created in part from the IU Office of the Bicentennial.
