Indiana University is commissioning two new murals on its Bloomington and Kokomo campuses.
The artwork in Bloomington will be inside President’s Hall and Wright Quad.
Brittany Terwilliger is the Communications and Marketing Manager for IU’s Office of the Bicentennial. She says the murals in President’s Hall will depict the IU motto “Lux et Veritas,” which means “light and truth.”
The display at Wright Quad however will be an expansion of existing artwork.
“If you have seen the Wright Quad murals that are already there, they depict IU’s history up until 1998 and the new murals will fill in the history from 1998 to the present day,” Terwilliger says.
IU School of Art, Architecture + Design faculty Bonnie Sklarski and Caleb Weintraub will be creating the artwork. Weintraub has been working with students on the Wright Quad mural.
The murals are part of the Bicentennial Heritage Preservation and Campus Beautification project.
