McRobbies to host virtual launch for new IU Press book

Indiana University President Michael McRobbie and first lady Laurie Burns McRobbie will organize a virtual book launch to mark the publication of a new IU Press book that features IU’s international collections.

"Windows on Worlds: International Collections at Indiana University" is the second book from Patrick O'Meara, IU vice president emeritus for international affairs, and Leah K. Peck, who worked with O'Meara while earning her Ph.D. The book highlights the university’s numerous, international collections. It's one of many Well House Books that showcase the university, in partnership with the IU Bicentennial.

"The fact that international emphasis at Indiana University is not something that's suddenly put into place in the last 10 years, it's going on for the past century — it says a lot," O'Meara said in a release. "It says a lot about the vision of the place."

The book focuses on the university’s well-known collections like the Sage Fashion Collection, but it also highlights some of the school’s lesser known collections of art and other objects.

"We really wanted to pick things that were surprising," Peck said in a release. "We wanted to pick things that were unique. We wanted to pick things that weren't necessarily obvious.”

The virtual launch will start at 4 p.m. Tuesday and will feature a discussion with the book's authors. Registration is required.
