Ernie Pyle, who studied journalism at Indiana University and wrote for the Indiana Daily Student, became known as “America’s storyteller” for the columns that he wrote about American troops who served during World War II.

To commemorate his contributions to journalism, WTIU created Ernie Pyle: Life in the Trenches, a 90-minute documentary which first aired on WTIU on March 3, 2020.

The documentary features archival images and recreations of battles. Narration is provided by Emmy award-winning journalist and former CBS News anchor Dan Rather.

Jonathan Banks, Emmy-nominated American actor and Critics' Choice Television Award winner, gives voice to Pyle and his most acclaimed writings and personal correspondence.
