Arts and Refugees

Description of Funded Activity

This project was a multi-media arts exhibit and corresponding master class workshops, lectures, and outreach that investigated the complex intersection of art and refugees by combining scholarship, performance, practice, and art. Over 1,000 people attended events held at the IUPUI Campus Center Art Gallery and IUB Global and International Studies Building. The IUPUI event coincided with the International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 29, 2019.

The project used art as an entry point to meaningfully and intimately understanding the experiences of refugees, connecting the past to the present, and IU’s connections to these themes.
