Campus: IU Bloomington
In 2016, Woodlawn Avenue was extended to connect Woodlawn Field between the Indiana Memorial Union and Memorial Stadium. This project allowed for the construction of three new buildings along the avenue: Luddy Hall, the Marching Hundred Hall, and the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity’s current home.
Before this project, the lack of a connecting road between the 13th and 12th streets caused inefficient traffic distribution and left a lot of valuable space unused. “A primary goal of the IU Bloomington Master Plan was to better connect the campus from north to south, while improving pedestrian and vehicular access,” said Tom Morrison, IU Vice President for Capital Planning and Facilities. “The construction of this new north-south corridor from the athletics campus to the Indiana Memorial Union has already improved traffic flow for pedestrians and vehicles alike.”
Following the finished road extension in 2016, the Phi Gamma Delta house was completed later in the 2016 academic year. The Marching Hundred Hall and Luddy Hall were completed in the fall of 2017.
