Voices from the IU Bicentennial

From 2016 through 2020, numerous student interns from the Office of the Bicentennial undertook the task of digging into the history of Indiana University and writing about unknown people, places, and events. In 2017, the Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council endowed the Mary Brown Craig internship which is named in honor of IU’s first archivist.

This internship program hosted eight interns who researched and wrote over 65 blog posts on people, events, and places across the IU system and on a wide array of topics. After researching and writing, the interns helped disseminate the stories of IU’s hidden figures by giving presentations to university audiences and beyond.

These blog posts serve as a testament to the people who have built Indiana University, and to the tireless work of student interns who worked so hard to shed light on those stories.
